Want to be a part of the Mosaic Team?

Mosaic Trust core services are predominately run by LGBT+ volunteers for LGBT+ young people. We are always on the look out for volunteers with a real passion for supporting the younger LGBT+ community to make a better tomorrow.

All our services revolve around our aims of supporting, educating and inspiring our young persons. We put our young persons at the forefront of all we do.

If you are a LGBT+ person who is passionate about supporting young people, taking an active role, and setting an inspiring example, then we'd love to hear from you. We aim to have a diverse group of volunteers who represent all aspects of the LGBT+ community, to give our young persons strong, uplifting role models.

Our roles

Be a part of our front line team, supporting the running of our weekly youth network, culture club, and events.

Being a Youth Mentor means engaging with our young persons on a regular basis at youth network, helping to run educational workshops, being a supportive role model, and providing a friendly ear for those who need it.

You will also occasionally support young persons through one-to-one sessions, for those who need more support or advice than usual.

If you are interested in this role you should expect to be in a position of responsibility and be able to volunteer on a regular basis, in order to maintain stability for our young persons.

The practical details:

  • We have two Youth Network that runs every Wednesday evening (from 6 PM and generally finishing before 10) and Sunday afternoons (from 12:00 noon and generally finishing before 4 PM)
  • Culture Club events take place on evenings, weekends, and school holidays, to various theatre events, musicals, museums, and more. If you are the designated mentor attending an event any attendance costs will of course be covered!
  • We run several large events over the course of the year - find out more on our Events Page! As a youth mentor you would assist with setup and take-down, as well as various roles during the event itself.

We ask that prospective mentors can commit to at least one year of weekly attendance at one of our two youth club sessions.

  • Mosaic LGBT Youth Centre's success is not only about our front line volunteers. Without a dedicated team behind the scenes we could achieve the way we do.

If you have skills or a background in marketing, fundraising, finance, event planning, project management, operations, or HR we would value your experience.

If you are interested in this sort of role you should be prepared to bring your knowledge to all areas of our organisation, working with our young persons as well as volunteers and trustees, and to pitch in on all aspects of our operations programme.

The practical details:

  • We do not have a dedicated office space so you will need to be able to work independently. We would expect you to be proactive in putting forwards ideas.
  • We hold regular committee meetings for the operations of the charity, which you would be expected to attend
  • We would also ask you to occasionally attend events on behalf of Mosaic and of course to attend and assist with the charity's own events.

Trustees are an important part of our charity, acting in a similar role to the board of governors for a school. They help to make sure we are steering the charity in the right direction for the future and oversee our areas of work.

If you are interested in being a Trustee we would expect you to bring expertise in a specific role of value and preferably to have had previous experience volunteering in charity roles.

Being a trustee involves being able to lead on a particular position within a team, being an excellent-problem solver, and having a level head.

The practical details:

  • Trustees are expected to attend board and committee meetings, liaise with stakeholders and staff, attend and pitch in at charity events, and maintain a visible presence within the charity to motivate volunteers and young persons.
  • Your role will involve independent work but with plenty of communication and collaboration with your peers.

We also offer internships on a limited, fixed term basis. If you are looking for a volunteering role to fulfil requirements of your study or qualification then please do get in touch for more info.
